Covering both sides of Belfast Lough, The IBF has been established in Northern Ireland since 1996 when Chris St John a Taihojutsu and Aikido practitioner, set up the first IBF club after training in sambo wrestling under Great Britain President, Martin Clarke.
The IBF quickly attracted Jujitsu Practitioner Lawrence McCormick (now deceased) and Aiki-do-ka Jim Andrews as coaches.
For many years Chris was vice President of IBF Great Britain. Sadly Martin died in 2018.
In 2022 After more than 25 years loyal service to the IBF Great Britain, IBF Northern Ireland was formed. This is directly affiliated to the International Budo Federation
Our focus is now mainly on Aikido and Jujitsu and we retain close links with the International Budo Federation Jujitsu and Kobudo, England through it's president Tom Starling, together with IBF Scotland under its Robin Hislop.
We organise several seminars annually on the Shores of Belfast Lough and short train Journey to Belfast.
